Glastonbury Looks

The Glastonbury music fest was this weekend, which, according to Wikipedia, is the largest open-air festival in the world. All I know is that people I want to listen to play their music there, and it tends to be muddy (it's in the UK, so no surprise I guess). Muddy reputation or no, it's like Coachella - you dress up.

Pixie Geldof wore an all-black ensemble which was nice (minus the fact she has forgotten to wear trousers), but do you see how sunny it is? I'm not sure how I feel about that. However, the lace jacket is awesome. And I give her props for going braless.

Alexa Chung looked fab, as she usually does. And sensible to boot! Love those shoes.

My favourite look I found was actually not someone famous, but this girl! All the colours are so lovely and springtime-y, and she manages to pull off the tied-sweater around the waist thing from the 90s. Plus she has the Hunter boots I've been coveting forever...

New Blazer

This is my new blazer! Oh boy do I love it. The sleeves have a secret stretchy panel down the inside so they can be super slim and I can still move easily. I love the shoulder detail, it's so forties.

I actually wore this last week to work, but didn't get a chance to post it until now.

Retail Therapy

On Wednesday there was an EARTHQUAKE here. That was scary. I was on the 15th floor of an office building, and that scared me a lot. Never again, please!

So we needed some retail therapy, so I went out with my mom and sister. It started as a trip to buy some things I needed for rugby (I play on a club team!) and we just kept shopping. Best buy? A fabulous BCBG blazer mad on sale! Well-made clothes just rock. They are totally worth the expense. When I can afford it.

I saw a couple pairs of shoes I didn't buy (above). 2 are from Payless's eco line, and 3 are from Aldo on sale. I'm trying to decide if I should go back for them.

Platform Pumps

After spending a day in these new platforms, I am realizing that it's really not that hard to walk in those tottering heels, as I was worrying it would be. The platform is my new favourite. Next, I want a pair of platform pumps. Those blush pink ones from Steve Madden are excellent, and I love the contrasting sole on the Givenchys. My top pick is probably the black pair with the rosette... as if I need more black shoes!

Givenchy Heels' Day 1

So, of course I couldn't resist wearing the shoes immediately. I was worried they wouldn't really be work appropriate (4.5 inch platform sandal/peeptoes with studs...) but I think pairing them with the light, feminine dress did the trick. I forgot to take a picture of the bag I was carrying, but it's not very exciting, so you're not missing out!

And walking in them was not as bad as I thought. Although I did lose the feeling in my big toe periodically. But they make my legs look so good...

Find of the Week

Really, this is a find of the month, the summer, or the year! These amazing shoes were too good to pass up. They are Givenchy, and I found them at my favourite consignment store. Oh, and they were $30. I can't wait to mix them into my collection - even though they're super tall, the tallest I've ever owned. I'll mix them with more demure, feminine stuff for daytime looks.

Retro Bikini

I am a big fan of the retro bikini that's in style this season. It comes up just high enough to suck in those parts I don't like and emphasize the parts I do. I am on the lookout for the ideal one - that coral one from Anthropologie is excellent.

Welcome, Good Lookin'

Hello!

Fashion, for me, is a problem. It's a distraction. It's a sinkhole into which hours of time and piles of money disappear. And I love it.

I love the textures, the shapes, and especially, the attitude. A new shirt can make you throw your shoulders back and new shoes can add a spring to your step. Fashion turns the everyday into fun. There is something fantastic about feeling fabulous. Clothes don't make the woman - she does that herself. Style just allows her to express it.

So this is my blog about my fashion exploration. As a student, I definitely have a budget... but sometimes I need reminding. Ramen noodles are worth it. But I also love the vintage, consignment, and thrift store finds, and putting it all together.
