A welcome home gift - some gorgeous Bruno Magli shoes!
All bundled up in a wool sweater - It's c-c-c-cold here.

I'm finally done my semester and cozy at home in Ottawa. So far we've had our traditional Chinese food and Christmas movies night. Tonight we're headed to a holiday party and then the girls are coming over! Reunited on this side of the semester.
Shirt: stolen from my dad | jeans: Cheap Mondays | shoes: Aldo | Coat: Simply Vera at Kohl's
Ring: NastyGal | Scarf and earrings: thrifted
I have lots more homework to do, but in between, I took a couple minutes for some photos. I look so glamorous on days I do homework, don't you think? Ha. I stole this shirt from my dad when I was home last; it's super cozy and the colour is great - like chambray for winter.
Times are tough, friends. There are papers to write, exams to study for, and packing lists to make (How exactly am I supposed to fit two weeks of party outfits into one suitcase, AND leave room for presents?).
For now, here is a picture I like a lot. I want everything about this. Don't the buttons looks like typewriter keys?
Aren't these fantastic? Fabulous. Frikkin' awesome. Going on my list. (Santa?)
It's my boyfriend's fake birthday! His real birthday is December 23, at which point we will each be with our families for Christmas, so I decided to celebrate him today. Because he is pretty great (he's the one who takes all my photos!). Wish I could wear these boots out tonight.
My friend Davis has a fantastic photo blog - Post-Jazz Photography. She took a couple of the photos from blog posts I've done and edited them up! Don't they look fantastic?
Follow her blog for some fantastic pics.
And why don't you follow me while you're at it? Here is a link:
My mom brought me back these tights from a recent trip to England, and I love them. They're cozy and thick for winter, but not bulky. I decided to pile on some layers with them, for style, but mostly for function - it's getting cold here! It snowed last night and it stuck to the ground. Soon I'll have to go searching for some indoor photo venues (Kate from O-My-Heart has a great one!).
These boots are my replacements - I ripped a pair, when a door opened over my foot. I love boots, and I was sad to see them go, but having a new pair is always exciting. Normally I don't buy black, but I'm loving these!
As I mentioned, it's really winter here. Cold, grey skies, snow... it's enough to make me want to go into fashion hibernation. I predict many knits and cozy scarves in the near future.
At heart, I will always dream of being a ballerina, just like when I was a little girl. I am obsessed with any and all ballet movies. I sometimes secretly do (terrible) pirouettes when no one is around.
Last week, I went to see the dance show at my school, and it just made me crave anything ballet pink all over again.
I have a new iPhone - it was a birthday present from my family, and I got it when I went home last week. It's such a neat object, and a useful tool... and a toy. I've been playing with it all the time since I got it. (My boyfriend jokes I only pay attention to the phone these days...)
I downloaded a free app called "Instamatic" that takes pictures and then adds neat filters. Unlike with "hipstamatic", another popular photo app, this one allows you to more control with the filters and this one saves the original as well. Highly recommend it.
Here are a few shots I've taken so far.
1 - Testing out the camera in my bedroom 2 - The new Art Deco brooch I mentioned 3 - Fancy birthday drinks with friends
Cape: Novelti | Dress: H&M | Tights: Gap | Brooch and belt: vintage | Boots: from my riding days
Sorry... I love puns...
When I was at home I stopped by my favourite consignment clothing store in Ottawa (www.clothessecret.com) and found this fantastic cape (boiled wool, never worn) and a couple of brooches! I've never worn brooches before, at all, but I found two I loved and decided to give this a try. What do you think? I can't wait to show you the other one I got, it's so Art Deco (my favourite thing).
It continues to rain here... rain rain rain. Anyone want to send me those rain boots I want?
Jacket: H&M | Skirt: vintage | T-shirt: Urban Outfitters | Belt: vintage | Necklace: made with an old key
It's been so windy in Halifax! You can see that in the photos. And it's rained for basically a week straight. Once the rain stopped for a bit, I ran outside to take these. This skirt, the freebie from my dress-up box, is quickly becoming a favourite. Maybe it's true what they say about hemlines and the economy (up and up, down and down) but what I know is longer hemlines mean cozier for winter.
Right now I'm in Ottawa, visiting my family and celebrating my birthday, which is Monday. I packed so light, I can't believe it. I packed a lot of black and mixed it all together. Either it was very ingenious of me, or... I will go shopping.
I have a long weekend next week, so I'll be heading home for a couple of days. While there, I will enjoy shopping at some stores that we don't have out here in Haligonia. Aritzia is one - I'm enjoying online window shopping... while avoiding my massive amount of homework...
